Our incredible town runs on teamwork, both on and off the ice. Right now, the Glace Bay Food Bank is experiencing high demand and running low on everyday essentials, and we want to step up and support them. 

As we get ready to kick off the new season, we’re combining our GBMHA Registration & Ticket Sign-Out with a massive food drive!

Returning players who have registered online can come down during these times to sign out their tickets.

NEW PLAYER IN-PERSON REGISTRATION 

New players to Hockey can register in-Person on Friday September 4th at the Glace Bay Minor Hockey office located in the Miners Forum (side entrance), from 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 4pm. 

When you come down to register your player and/or sign out tickets, please bring a non-perishable food item for the Glace Bay Food Bank. For every donation you drop off per player, you’ll be entered into a draw to win a gift card to the Pit Shop! 

Glace Bay Minor Hockey Association is accepting applications for Head and Assistant Coaches in all divisions for the 2026-2027 season.

 Deadline: August 15th.

Congratulations to Glace Bay native, GBMHA alumni, and Toronto Marlies captain Logan Shaw on winning the 2026 Calder Cup!

The Marlies captured the championship tonight with a thrilling 4-3 Game 5 victory over the Chicago Wolves, and all of Glace Bay is celebrating right along with you.

From your friends at Glace Bay Minor Hockey, congratulations to Logan, his family, and the entire Marlies organization on this incredible accomplishment. We are so proud to call you one of our own.

We can't wait to welcome you and the Calder Cup home to Glace Bay so our community can celebrate this special moment with you and your family.

The GBMH Annual General Meeting will be held Wednesday June 17th, 7:30 pm in the Community Hall at the Miners Forum.

Glace Bay Minor Hockey is saddened to learn of the passing of legendary Glace Bay Miner player, Fred Courtney, The prolific goal-scoring great, known for his end-to-end rushes and flare for scoring the big goal is carved in Glace Bay hockey lore.  

He was captain of the fabled 1955-56 GB Junior ' Cinderella ' Miners , a team that went from the bottom to the top capturing the Cape Breton League championship in a 9 game series against the rival Sydney Millionaires.

The team was inducted into the Maritime Sport Hall of Fame. GBMH was proud to induct Courtney, along with linemates Vince Ryan and Naish Batten (the 7,8,9 line) in our inaugural GB Miners Hall of Fame ceremony.

We are also proud to award annually the Fred Courtney trophy to the player deemed to be the best forward in GBMH. 

Fred was predeceased by his wife, Jean and is survived by his children Elaine, Raymond, Glenn and families.
