U18-AA Miners Helping Hand
The Glace Bay Food Bank received a truckload of donations of canned milk and vegetables shipped in from Prince Edward Island on Wednesday. The annual shipment was organized by Mickey McNeil, founder of Mickeys Original Six hockey tournament. It included 250 10-pound bags of potatoes from Mid-Isle Farms in Albany, P.E.I.; a donated pallet of 2,140 cans of evaporated milk from ADL in Charlottetown, as well as another purchased 7,000 cans; 10 50-pound bags each of carrots and turnip from Harvest Wholesale in Charlottetown and 250 10-pound bags of potatoes from McCain Produce in Summerside, P.E.I. Glace Bay Minor Hockey also purchased another 250 10-pound bags of potatoes to donate. McNeil said the donation is the biggest one yet came at a good time, with the food bank preparing their Christmas hampers.
