Eddie Roberts

Glace Bay Minor Hockey is saddened to learn of the passing of former GB hockey standout, Eddie Roberts.

Eddie was a smooth skating, tenacious right winger who starred with Glace Bay , Moncton Beavers and The Cape Breton Metros of the Maritime Jr A Hockey League.

When he and teammates Robert Anderson, Art Billard, Rocky Ford and Brendan O'Brien left Glace Bay in 1968 to play for Moncton, the impact was so great that it caused the Miners to fold.

However, all was forgiven in 1969 when the star players returned to play for the CB Metros in the highly skilled Maritime Jr A League featuring teams from Halifax, Dartmouth, Charlottetown and the Cape Breton Metros.

Local fans were treated to great hockey with Roberts among the leaders on the CB team. Eddie Roberts still has relatives playing in GBMH through his sister, Lynn Batten's grandchildren. Our heartfelt condolences go out to Eddie's family and many friends.

Thanks for the memories # 8.
